NFC tickets in Grapheneos

Quick question on Google Wallet and NFC tickets.

I've searched through the forums so I am aware that NFC payments do not work on Google Wallet within Graphene OS even if you install sandboxed Google services. However, I cannot find any information on whether NFC tickets work on Google Wallet within Graphene OS.

Is it all NFC that doesn't work on Google Wallet or just NFC payments? If it is all NFC, then is there an alternate app that simply caters for NFC tickets that works within Graphene OS?

In some countries some backing apps support using NFC fort payments without Google wallet. That will work work on GOS.

Similarly PayPal is trialling a competitor to Google wallet and that works on GOS too (currently being trialled in Germany only though)

I'm not really concerned about being able to pay for things through Google Wallet. This essentially would only mean that I wouldn't have to carry a card, which is hardly any weight.

There are, however, certain events where you get an NFC ticket as standard. This obviously has to be held within a wallet app and so I was checking whether the NFC actually works with Google Wallet on GOS and it was just the NFC payments that didn't work.

Made an account to ask this question. Looking over some last things before pulling the trigger on switching over. I've accepted that Google pay will likely not work for me, but I already carry my cards with me so it's no big deal.

But yes I attend a fair amount of events that add tickets to Google wallet. If these don't function correctly it may be difficult for me to attend. If anyone has an answer on this it would be greatly appreciated :)

I was wondering if anyone has any updates on this? I took am looking to move to GrapheneOS, and while I don't care about making payments using my phone, I do regularly attend events that require NFC tickets to enter. So I appreciate anyone's experiences with it.

ComputerBob34 hey there. So I have a kind of a half answer.

I am indeed able to add tickets to my Google wallet on graphene and use them. I will get the popup saying that the wallet won't fully work due to my custom OS, but it can be dismissed and the tickets can be pulled up.

The caveat here is that I have not actually gotten the NFC bit to work yet. I have barely looked into it because every NFC tickets I have gotten and put on my phone has a barcode you can also pull up by clicking an extra button on the ticket. I just went to a show last night doing this. So Google wallet does work well for offline tickets on graphene. I think NFC could probably be made to work as well but I haven't tried enough to get it to work.

I would like to get some sort of NFC device at home I can test with Google wallet, as I always get a bit stressed about accidentally holding up a line at an event by fiddling with the NFC ticket.
