Everyone hates the extra work that is needed to port anfroid to pixel devices now. Most situations have a bright side. What are the particular bright sides of this situation? i know there is likely many good parts of this if looked at on a larger perspective

Yeah, this sucks! (Excuse my language!)
Hopefully the GrapheneOS developers can find another phone manufacturer that has all the security features a Google phone had, (like the Titan M2, etc, MTE, etc), but I guess it will prove more difficult than "just" porting it, sigh...
Donating to GrapheneOS is always a good idea, (I do that once a year) but it is still alot of extra work regardless, hopefully they can find some more awesome developers next to the fantastic devs they already have.

Pocketstar I meant that I hope they will find a manufacturer that is willing to share the full source of the firmware and drivers with them.

I read in a post from them in this forum they are going to automate as much of their android build as possible for future builds, so they don't have to rewrite code continuously.
This is cool AF, their own secure android automated code.
My memory is toast and I'm butchering the quote but also said they will do it for each android build moving forward.
