App switching broken?

Hey same!
The recent update that was pushed seemed to have fixed the issue but it returned a few minutes later.

It's getting really annoying having to keep launching an app from the app drawer every single time when a faster way would be the recent apps list

Same here on a Pixel 4a 5G. It's also not just a visual bug. Apps seem to really get closed and get restarted. Makes it sometimes impossible to copy multiple things between apps (e.g. password manager and another app), since they close while switching and lose the copied state.

Any acknowledgement of this from the Graphene team? I'm also having the same issue (Pixel 6), and it's super annoying. Tried rebooting and running the latest software.

The issue is known and is being worked on.

Glad it's being worked on. Can't select waze to pin the app while on the road.

Just to add to this. I notice that sometimes when i swipe down to search for an app for example i type signal, select signal but then it will open something else. Also when I do try to switch apps it's never in the order that they were open. it always goes back to the same order and then you can't select them anyway. Really hope a solution can be figured out quickly as it's making daily use unbearable as I'm constantly switching between apps.

Agree. Switching back to the previous app does not work most of the times.

I have this problem with the latest GoS production version on my Pixel 7 Pro. App switching works for a while after I reboot but it's not long before I get "App not available" again.

Glad it's a known issue and being worked on as it's a real annoyance.

Some news on this:

This was an upstream bug from Android 13 QPR1. It has now been fixed downstream by GrapheneOS. The fix will be in the next release, so please be patient for that one.

Thank you all for your patience as the team looked into this. It would be great if upstream bugs could be addressed upstream, but this seems to be a bug that was mostly triggered with secondary user profile use, which is largely not used outside of GrapheneOS, so that bug will likely exist in AOSP for a long time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't the GOS devs PR the fix upstream? I've some changes in GOS has been merged upstream so won't this one be?

Kryptos I didn't know something we all took for granted could make or break an experience

Now I have to relearn how to live with proper app switching because I still find myself open the app drawer to switch apps instead of the app switcher
