Stuck in Boot Loop/Can't Reinstall Android or Graphene

Hello,

Installed Graphene on My Pixel 7 earlier and it was working fine for about 15 minutes but has since been stuck in a boot loop. I tried starting it in fastboot and reinstalling graphene but it says device is locked and the prompt to unlock the phone does not appear like it did when I first installed Graphene. I have also tried to reinstall android os use the android flash tool but I keep getting an error that the phone is locked. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Unlocking is done with the unlock button, not the flashing one. The unlock prompt appears one the phone when using that. It's possible the hardware is partially dead but you should first confirm you're not just misunderstanding something about unlocking or having a USB connectivity issue.

mgiglio if you have access to fastboot you could run the unlock command there.

Yes, the prompt does not appear asking me to press the lock button like it did during the install. I’ve tried several different usb cables. Could it be a hardware issue? The phone is a refurb that I just purchased specifically to have a basic and secure phone.

mgiglio I was going to say the problem could be because your phone is a refurb. You don’t know the history pryer. For what I learned the other day you must start with a clean phone that has never been locked with a phone company at anytime ever as even though it’s unlocked it’s not completely if it was ever under a lock with a provider pryer. If I remember correctly you can tell if this is a problem if the you don’t have and option with the OEM lock toggle as it’s grayed out. But you said you did have it working at one stage so maybe that not it.

From my experience it's nearly not possible to kill a phone during install grapheneOS .... So first check out all things around.... I had some problems too and did a reset from fastboot... After reset all works fine again

I can get to the fastboot but it says the phone is locked and won’t let me do anything other than use the volume buttons to scroll between rescue mode, restore mode, or power off.

mgiglio I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about the fastboot command on your computer.

Regardless, the GOS install page should have a button that calls fastboot unlock anyways.

Thank you for the clarification and help thus far. Don’t have fastboot on my computer but I’ve tried unlocking several times on the web page installer and it always gives the error “bootloader was not unlocked, please try again”

mgiglio do you have the drivers installed for android? Is Web USB enabled and does the browser have access to it?

Are you sure you don't have fastboot, I believe its apart of the drivers. Its a CLI application.

What browser are you using? Is OEM unlocking enabled?

Have you tried sideloading an update from recovery mode before trying to reinstall the OS?

Yes, I have the drivers installed. The device is communicating with the browser via USB using chrome. It tries to unlock the device through the web installer, but the device does not prompt to hit the lock button to unlock device like it did when I first installed graphene.

I’ve downloaded the android developer kit and I have fast boot and ADP now installed. I’m using a Mac. Not really sure what to do beyond that point as I’m not familiar with how to use terminal or any of these command line prompts.

I cannot even get the device into recovery mode from the fastboot screen. The only thing that happens when I try to enter into recovery mode with the volume and lock buttons is that it goes back into the infinite boot loop.
