SMS how to show number of message in the icon

Hi, anybody no how for my SMS icon to show me the amount of unread messages like Imessage, I only can seem to get the bubble up and no numhers, eg 7 for 7 unread SMS messages. Can this also be done for missed calls as well on the phone dialler icon, thank you

Newlove2003 I do not believe the default launcher can to this. You can get this functionality with a custom launcher like lawnchair.
