goskm75f It's extraordinarily insecure and non-private due to lack of basic patches and security features. It should not be promoted here. Updating only a portion of the OS is not safe.

What's the point of this? I mean you can't check their PCs to see if they're actually using the code to host the servers or am I dumb? I thought the whole point of open source code is so that we can check the programs that we install on our devices, not to verify servers

The point of open source software is to be open license, and in most cases open collaboration, verification of software has nothing to do with it

Thanks, I guess verification is just an added benefit? Still, what's the point of mentioning that the servers have been changed? If it's as you say, I assume that there isn't any benefit for the user unless they want to help develop the OS. Maybe it just looks good on the list

Its a fact that software with open source code is a lot easier to verify compared to something where the code is not available

It uses Micro-G, so it is a non-starter. It is such a shame that all of these alternative operating systems that claim improved security and privacy are oftentimes far worse for both of those metrics than just buying an iPhone.
