Default "Clock" app using lots of battery

For the past two days (and perhaps longer than that), the default "Clock" app has used quite a lot of battery, according to the "Battery usage" screen. Today, it's my top battery usage app, showing 25%. Yesterday, the story was similar. On both days, the screen time was small (5 minutes today), and the background usage is extensive (12 hr 28 min today).

I rebooted the phone last night, after seeing the battery stats yesterday, but that reboot hasn't resolved it.

Anyone else seeing this or have any suggestions?

spammerofspam Is it noticably consuming a lot of battery? As in, are you noticing decreased battery life? That battery usage statistic might be misleading.

That's normal. It needs to run in the background in order to notify you of alarms in a timely manner. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's consuming a lot of power doing so.

I would like to know more about this issue, too, as I am experiencing the same thing on my Pixel 9.

Paradox try clearing its storage in Settings > Apps > All apps > Clock > Storage & cache to see if that helps

fid02 I reset the cache and storage for the app, and it no longer is among the top battery consuming apps (according to the stats page). Background usage time also went down quite a lot (when I posted the initial post, the background was over 12 hours partway through the day, but yesterday it was around 7 hours for the entire day).

I believe it was actually impacting the battery life, though I haven't been keeping tabs outside of the stats collected by the OS, so I don't know for sure. I will say that the reason I was digging into the battery stats initially was because I thought the battery life had gotten worse, though, so I think it was actually impacting the battery life.
