Install an app out of region

Being outside my home country for an extended period, I have bought a new Pixel and installed GOS. When I try to install my home-nation banking app from Google Play onto my new phone, I'm told that it is unavailable in my region.

Because the owner profile which I use to install apps runs tor at all times, I thought I might find an exit node in my home country, but I've unsuccessful.

I still have my old phone, with the app installed on it. Is there some way I can extract it from there? Would anyone have any other suggestions?

Using a VPN that locates you in your home country via Wi-Fi only.

I am not sure if there is an easy way around that. Apps stored on Google Play Store can be georestricted for initial install.

Do you connect to mobile networks on your device? In other words, do use the phone with airplane mode switched off? If so, Google Play Store, like other user installed apps, can see the country code of the cell towers you are connected to, and thereby determine the country you are located in.
