Apps finding location via Apple Location Services, how to prevent?

How common is it for apps to determine location via Apple Location Services (or Google's) when on Wifi?

I have some work apps I'd like to not determine my location and so I run them from on the Pixel Tablet from the private space, via LAN, on a VPN, Wifi off, location permission off. I had though this would prevent them from using something like Apple Location Services to find location. Is this a reasonable approach? I'm wondering if I understand permissions correctly.

What approaches are recommended for starving work apps of your location?

elisa4501 Simply don't give apps the location permission, and they won't be able to determine your precise location. They may be able to determine a general location from IP address if you aren't using a VPN.
