Timer apps fall asleep despite having unrestricted battery and background usage

I have a problem where any non-default timer app keeps falling asleep and failing to alert me when the countdown is over.

I have made sure to enable the settings:

Allow background usage
Battery: Unrestricted

The only timer app that works is the default Clock application.

Am I missing something?

coral-mountain make sure notifications are enabled, this sort of apps usually provide persistent notification when running and that battery saver is turned off.

I was even losing timers in the dflt app, but p6a and was running too many things.

I switched to timerX app that creates temp alarms instead because they ring in other profiles where timers weren't.

I'd really love a calendar method to create these alarms.

I also found an app notificationCron, which has a URI space although I can't figure how to use it yet.
