Removing Vanadium

Hi,

I know there are earlier post on this topic, but one thing I cant get clear:

Wil removing Vanadium through ADB will pose a security risk if no other browser is installed, apart from the ADB possible malicious app risk? Will it still be Graphene OS?

If so, is there a security risk with only disabling it or revoking network acces?

I try to make my phone minimal yet secure and dont want the temptation of installing a browser, other suggestions are welcome.

If you install an app that poses as a browser, or update an app that makes it pose as a browser, GrapheneOS might default to it since there's nothing else

you can try to disable it first in the settings, check if it breaks something...

andrej567 You could deinstall it via adb. But I and especially the GOS team will not recommend that.

You got a very secure system, so don't tamper with system apps.

teezeh I need banking apps, 2FA, Passwordmanager etc so thats not an option. Just want to delete all (social) media/browser options

teezeh I’ve been down this road. It’s hard to find dumb phones that are still getting os or security updates unfortunately:(

teezeh If i'd like to be sarcastic, i'd say i want to remove nr 6 from the dialer so i cant accidentaly dial mr. Satan. But there could be very high threat levels so i am quiet

BaronAfanas I know that, but webview uses Vanadium. So if vanadium is uninstalled, with the app with webview just crash (fine by me since I dont have any apps that use Vanadium) or does it pose a security risk

Not the answer your looking for, but would disabling the browser fulfil what your attempting to do? Once you disable an application, it removes it from the app drawer or whatever its called. It also does not automatically start. You have to re-enable it by looking up in the settings/apps.

I need Duo for reasons but keep it disabled unless needed.

Yeah, just install another browser app and set it as default. Disable Vanadium and remove the installed browser app.

Pixelpioneer88 it disables Vanadium (and stops it from running, WebView required by apps still works) and removes it from direct view in app drawer.
