Do Not Disturb mode doesn't follow my settings, ignoring the exceptions I set

Hello, I'm using last stable version on a Pixel 8a (I'm about to update to 2025050700), and recently I set the DND mode to let the phone ring only for one starred contact.

Despite that, everytime this contact calls me the phone doesn't ring, even tho the device is set to ring.

Anyone with the same issue or a suggestion?

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm on GOS 20260128 with a Pixel 9a and I just found the same problem last night. In Settings > Modes > Sleeping > People, I've got Calls set to Starred Contacts. I've got 3 starred contacts and they all show up in that setting. But, last night, one of them called and the phone didn't ring. Down at the bottom of that People exception page, it says:

"To make sure allowed calls make sound, check that the device is set to ring."

Well, the phone normally rings. Is there some special place I'm supposed to set that for these exceptions under DND/Sleeping mode?

Yes I did. I created a custom mode with the same parameters of the DND original mode, and for some reasons it works.

Just for the record, since my original post I switched to a Pixel 9 and, obviously, I kept my GOS version updated. Even tho I still have the same custom mode, I didn't use it for several months, so I dont' know if it still works, but my word that has worked until the switch.

My setup was to have only one contact starred, and not only the phone calls were ringing but also messages on Signal and WhatsApp.

Thanks. Creating my own custom mode with the same settings fixed the issue for me, too.
