Android 16 expectations

If you weren't aware, Android 16 is expected to release this june, shifting from the usual Q3 release in AOSP development. Being aware of the challenges faced by the GOS dev team (conscription, number of developers, lack of access to builds, etc.), what can we expect from GOS16?

Any estimated time of release?
What features will Google keep out of AOSP, thus not being implemented in GOS? Will Advanced Protection, for example, make it to our devices?
What features are being developed right now and will be released in the short term? Any overhauls to customization, basic suite of apps, or to Private Space?

unplugmaverick Traditionally the GrapheneOS team has not made a lot of forward-looking statements with dates -- though sometimes when something is genuinely close to release an announcement is made that it's coming soon, sometimes accompanied by a request for testers to sign up.

Especially when Google is shifting its practices I think the best way to find out when things will happen is to wait and see.

You don't need this. As far as I can see, all of the stuff it enables is already available on GrapheneOS. Except the sideloading restriction which is silly. You can revoke the Install unknown apps permission anytime you want.

we will see, once it comes. there can be some regressions but that is expected.

I would just wait and see what 16 has to offer once it is released. Or what GOS will make of it.

Then I would do the same waiting for Android 17.

No point in guessing, hoping and wasting time on rumors. The internet has so much more to offer for wasting our time ;)
