lovefromisrael This is a bad approach to handling this prone to creating leaks. It requires disabling the leak blocking toggle but is inherently prone to leaks regardless. Each profile including a Private Space, work profile or secondary user has separate VPN configuration. The right way to have separate VPN configuration for a group of apps is putting them in a separate profile.

If you're using a free tier split tunneling will be disabled last I checked. However there is an option to do that.

i find vpn apps not very appealing because some apps must be excluded.

Split tunneling for specific apps is a paid feature of Proton Unlimited/VPN+
Unfortunately its necessary to disable the Kill Switch for it to work :(

gee, I wonder why? The VPN market is already a hard sell, especially with so many scammers out there or companies that rely on false advertising - and that's a lot of competition that has way more money on their hands than Proton. Having a free tier (no matter how limited it is), is a big bonus for me and definitely not a negative as you make it out to be. Nobody owes you (or anyone else) free stuff.
