What is your desktop OS?

r134a yeah you won't have hardened_malloc and the other secureblue improvements on vanilla Fedora.

I need to switch to secureblue but I need to read more deeply on the implementation before jumping over again; had issues with my Thunderbolt dock/other useability that is a non-negotiable for me.

My threat model is pretty casual so Workstation and Silverblue depending on the laptop I'm using are fine for me at the moment.

So the gpg key should be imported automatically when u attempt to install trivalent with dnf install package (i don't know the actual package name to install it, trivalent, trivalent-chromium, ...)?

Perhaps when u attempt to install trivalent it might ask for confirmation (y/n) to import given key.

I think I may have already said that but my favourite desktop OS is GrapheneOS (mirror mode on TV) with all the pros and cons it brings. Does me just fine.

Yes, that's the bit I'm wondering about. When I run:
sudo dnf install trivalent
Fedora responds in part with:

Shouldn't I check the fingerprint somehow before agreeing to import the key?

Elgoog I guess u could try to compare both keys or their fingerprints from both https://repo.secureblue.dev/secureblue.gpg and https://github.com/secureblue/secureblue/blob/live/files/system/desktop/usr/share/pki/rpm-gpg/secureblue.gpg

I installed Trivalent, getting a few error messages along the way which I gather just mean that when it's running on Fedora Workstation, it won't give me all of the privacy benefits that would accrue on secureblue. And the log seems to show numerous error messages while Trivalent is running, but, it seems to display any webpage I want to see with no problem. I like it -- it's really zippy!

For my laptop, I use Fedora KDE on one SSD, and Windows on another SSD for specific things. For my PC, also Fedora KDE

Sucks computers cost so much. 🫤 Don't think my Lenovo Thinkpad has the power to run Android Studio (I've tried). Can't run the emulator, the computer gets hot, and the fan comes on high speed. Its the base one, with only 500GB storage and 8GB RAM. Just bought it last year. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd upgrade to a much better more powerful machine, but I'd be looking at at least $1,200.

Wait, really just a year ago? Unfortunately the laptop market has some pitfalls to avoid:

getting spinning rust harddrives advertised as "so much storage space" instead of getting a SSD. Also getting SATA instead of nvme isn't good.
CPU models that denote they are from this year actually have entirely old tech inside.
For example.
Model 7999 = new tech
Model 7945 = 3 year old CPU

They like to hide the CPU model until you look at specifications. Only says "ultra 5" in the name to trick ya.

It used to be all 7000 series were all using the same tech.

Hmmm, but actually I don't know. Maybe you got a good deal on a budget laptop.

Also, 8GB RAM is unfortunately below the minimum required for Android Studio & the Emulator; you'd need 32GB to be in the recommended zone.

You remind me of my current laptop. I got it about half a year ago as it seemed good with a Ryzen 7 7730U(more powerful than anything I currently have) and 40GB of Ram all for ~$600. After having it for months I found that they just really did me dirty. 8GB is soldered and 32GB are socketted in, so they are mismatched. And I have had consistent black screen crashes on both Windows and Linux if I go above 8GB, where the system gradually becomes unstable until complete crash/hardware reset(sometimes it would still be "stable" and just lock out any keyboard or mouse inputs so the hardware reset would be manual). These were pretty frequent, the worst I had was it crashing multiple times(like 6 or more) in one day. So I have to be very careful with what I am doing, and this really frustrates me as it messes with my workflow when it happens.

I was a "lifelong" Windows user going back to Win '95. Jumped over to ZorinOS on my personal PC back in September and loving it. I still have 1 Windows 11 PC that I only need to manage my UPSes and run the Atari 8-bit disk drive emulator and a Windows laptop that runs Reason for my keyboard setup; there's no Linux version available so I'm stuck with that. I also need to use Windows (and stock Google Android on my work phone) for my job because we're pretty integrated into M365, InTune, etc.

If your threat model allows it ZorinOS is a great distro to help users migrate from Windows to Linux. I have done so successfully with older very computer illiterate users with no problems and in the long run they are safer there because of their poor clicking habits. I use NextDNS to mitigate some of that as well.
