Pixel 8a battery drain and excessive heat

Hi, I'm looking for ways to optimize my 8a's battery drain. I've disabled VoLTE and VoWiFi, and I'm now looking at disabling background usage for all apps (except for apps that have widgets, or need to run in the background, such as music and navigation). Is this a good idea? Will notifications be delayed or missing?

Also, and this is could be anecdotal since I have unusually warm hands (for real), does the 8a have a track record for getting very hot after continued usage, even if not very hardware-intensive? Could the case have something to do with it? Is it a recurrent fault of the "a" line?

I have 8a for some time now and it only gets hot when I record video for a long time.

I've disabled 5g and that helps a lot.

Do you use Play Services, multiple user profiles, 5g on your phone?

pandul I use Play Services and 5G. Is it recommended I manually disable data when connected to a Wi-Fi network?

Also, Play Services is one of the few apps I would let the background usage toggle on. Would that be enough to receive push notifications from apps with restricted background usage?

My pixel 8s is in use for 7 months and looses power rapidly. Is there a problem accuring? My phone gets hot when I use maps for 1h.

My Pixel 8a gets much warmer when I'm using the Internet, so I shut it off when not needed. There's lots of plastic components and layers in this phone model, I've seen it myself, so it's no surprise to me that it can get hot.
