Since before the Reddit API restrictions we used to have a whole bunch of third party clients, today only some exist and are maintained still. Dawn, Slide, Stealth all disappeared, Infinity for Reddit became paid, but you can still build your own app with your API key, which is tedious. This is what I were doing up until recently, and I had to put up with all the rate limiting from Reddit because I was not using an actual API key.
There is the official Reddit app which is crappy, full of bloat, requires an account (non starter), full of tracking stuff and ads. There's RedReader which is let's just say unintuitive to use. And also some proprietary 3rd party apps on Play Store.
For digital minimalism and the aforementioned inconvenience reasons I'm trying to limit my Reddit usage and deleted Infinity off my device and I'm looking for alternatives to keep track of a few communities still important to me. It doesn't have to be a client app, I just need it to be simple, quick, ad free, non rate limited and allow me to save subreddits. I'm fine with a webapp or anything of that nature.
I could just save those in bookmarks but that does not account for all the frontends, old reddit and the maintenance it requires to keep it tidy and up to date. What do you people use?
