Why are same UI elements not in English?

Some UI elements are not shown in the default set OS language (english), they are shown in my native language. i.e. Tuta calendar widget, Molly notification "mark as read" string. Is it because of the mobile network? Is there a way to prevent this?

I suspect those apps are "helpfully" working from a SIM card's country code, which apps are allowed to know.

You might complain to the app authors (and perhaps experiment with removing your SIM card).

Also, I believe that the GrapheneOS team has a long-term goal of adding more controls to manage standard Android features that can be useful for fingerprinting.

de0u Ah that sucks, maybe there could be an option to either 1) have the default code 2) change the code to a custom one 3) use the code respective to the set language 4) use some null value or a generic one such as US.
