Bought my Pixel 7a back in November 2023. For the first time, today I figured out some sort of display burn in. Sunny spring day, display brightness was at max (I guess), and opening some apps with white background, I saw the contures of the charging battery icon and some sort of corona glowing around the front camera.
In day to day usage I never recognized it before, but, you know, once seen... :-D
Aren't there any countermeasures against display burn in? So, is it probably a software issue or moreover hardware bound?
What I know is that I had this prob once using another phone and LineageOS. Investigating that, I've read something that this could happen when you exchange or repair your display because PWM settings, max screen brightness, color corrections are stored somewhere and represent your display life and degradation/calibration.
