Pixel 6a - Broken screen!

Hey all,

So I dropped my Pixel 6a. Screen is cracked - no display, no touch functionality.

Body of the phone is bent/twisted too so I think it's pretty busted, however the phone is still on and if I press the power button I get the usual vibration indicating that it's giving me a prompt to shutdown/restart/etc.

Any ideas on how to get my data/contacts off the phone without having USB debugging enabled? I tried 'adb devices' and nothing it listed in the list.

Without adb debugging you'll have to fix the screen otherwise you could use scrcpy to mirror your screen (with adb debugging on of course) and then initiate the copying process

Thanks, is 'ADB debugging' identical to the 'enable USB debugging' setting in developer options?

If so, I'm pretty sure USB debugging is not on as I tried to plug the phone into my computer and in the mac terminal tried 'adb devices' and nothing was listed.

In theory, you could replicate the process of enabling adb mode or otherwise interacting with the system BLINDLY by plugging in a keyboard and mouse.

Hah, that's an interesting idea. Could I theoretically enter a pin to unlock the phone via a keyboard as well?

If the phone is still running and did not restart, you could try connecting it with a physical cable usb c plus hdmi adapter and/ or an usb hub to connect keyboard and mouse, so that you can navigate.

But i don't know if Graphene has any limitations doing so.

I've tried a USB-C --> HDMI cable and nothing appeared on my TV.

I also tried a USB-C hub with HDMI (and keyboard/mouse) connected and nothing appeared on the TV either...

coolstorybro Good question. I don't know the answer to that. If not, then you'd likely want to use a touchscreen or virtual device for the interactions in order to make the positioning of contacts predictable.

coolstorybro If you have not changed the default in Settings > Security > USB Accessories, you won't be able to connect a physical keyboard while the phone is locked.

Expected, unfortunately. There is no HDMI or other video output on the USB socket.
