Hi all,
I am new to GOS, and have engaged in multiple conversations regarding various app stores and the best way to decide what apps to use, how to get them, and how to update them.
Here is the setup I came up with:
I will have two profiles - my main profile that I will use daily (which I will call User) and the defualt Owner profile.
On the User profile, I will use Obtainium to download and update the bulk of the apps I will use, and will try to stick with open source apps as much as possible.
For things I cannot replace with open source, my next choice will be a progressive web app via clicking "add to home screen" in the default web browser that comes with GOS. I find this woks well for my banking! (As a side note, on my journey to better privacy, I will be using cash much more often).
For the few apps left that I simply cannot replace with open source or a progressive web app, I will install google play (from the graphene store) on the owner profile, will create a burner google account, will download those few apps I need, and then will push them to the "User" profile. I will regularly open the owner profile to check for play store app updates.
After all of my research and asking this community questions, I think this will be the best setup for me. Since I will use so few Google Play apps, I don't think having two profiles will be very burdensome.
How does this setup sound? What does yiur setup look like?
Also, I'm not looking to eliminate any particular "threat." Just an average guy finally taking privacy seriously. Large companies are seemingly controlling more and more of our lives. It's only going to get worse. Can we go back to the 90s?
