Having MAJOR ISSUES with mobile network/carrier after the recent update!
Mobile data and making/receiving calls does NOT work.
The signal bar is full/almost full - like it normally varies, but there is NO internet through 5G or any of the other modes, even though the icon would suggest all is fine.

Also, "4G only"-mode has disappeared, amongst various other usual settings on the SIM settings page.

I have tried resetting mobile network settings and APNs. It did not fix it.

Just wanted to let devs know - and hope someone might know something that could help.

Sacrosanct some questions that come to mind are:

Which update, specifically?
Are you in a country where Pixels are sold?
eSIM or regular SIM?
Google Fi?
After changing SIM settings, did you try restarting as well?
Have you enabled 2G (I may be remembering wrong, but I recall someone fixed carrier issues by enabling that not long ago)

Looking around, I haven't seen reports of other people having similar issues, so maybe it's your carrier or phone?

I have tried resetting mobile network settings and APNs. It did not fix it.

Try fully turning it off without a USB-C cable connected, waiting a couple seconds and turning it back on.

Sacrosanct Can you borrow a SIM card from a friend (ideally with a different carrier) and see if that makes a difference?

ACuriousFellow had to change to allow 2g to get calls to work again, see here

I suggested this in my post earlier. Wonder if other people tried and it worked and then didn't report back?

Similar issue with a Pixel 7 since build 2025041100. Carrier is o2-de (Telefonica Germany). The signal indicator does its job but mobile data will not turn on. Phone number in the Settings app says "Unknown". Have not tried calling yet.

Just created an account right now to report this. This kind of bug should not happen even with a single developer working on the project.

Did you already reset cellular settings via Settings > System > Reset? Did you already try powering off the device and then turning it back on again rather than just a reboot?

We have far more than one developer working on the project. There were no issues reported during either Alpha or Beta testing. We can't work on issues which aren't reported to us. The way you're approaching this is not appropriate.

Do you even know what kind of bug is happening with big companies like Samsung ? They sometimes literally destroy the user partition during an update, make all your files disappear.

Nothing is perfect and sometimes you can encounter things like that. You don't take in consideration how hard devs are working when you just enjoy for FREE this OS and reject your frustration on them when something is going wrong. The amount of work behind this project is astronomical. So for the sake of god, show some respect.

I'm unable to use my Pixel 8a at all as of this morning (screen just shuts off when I'm halfway through the PIN unlock). Not sure if this has something to do with the issue you're hitting with mobile data, and/or the fact that I have an always-on VPN configured- just wildly speculating, though. Have had zero issues up to this point, on t-mobile with a regular SIM

Was able to factory reset, seems like the mobile network works fine. Must have been some completely unrelated issue

GrapheneOS No restarting the phone or resetting network configs does the trick. Further digging revealed that the "builtin" o2-de APN disappeared. Setting up an APN manually fixes the mobile data issue. Calls remain broken as I toggled on VoLTE but the option disappeared now and the phone still tries to use it but fails.

I agree that making assumptions is inappropriate but I still stand with this bug being unacceptable. Breaking the phone functionality of a phone should not happen.

I had a silly issue with the lock screen, there was no finger reader on the lock screen and i could not get to the pin entering screen. i was swiping the screen like mad. i let it be, and tried in 5 min, the same, then waited again, and then it worked. Pixel 7a. Usb was not connected, i was outside. I had the release before 11april. Now i updated to the latest, will see.

Have it very rarely too, that mobile data won't connect. Maybe since ~ 2months.
Got it a day ago right after a restart after a system update (but it is sometimes randomly too it seems). Disabling mobile data and turning on again didn't fix it.
I also use a VPN killswitch permanently. Also somewhat Tmobile like another user.
But going into the Network and Internet setting on owner profile then SIMs Menu and then turning off your Sim card and activating it again did work for me. So it instantly fixed it. (Idk if reseting celluar setting via system setting does the same)
But only had the chance to do this 1 time for now.

I agree that making assumptions is inappropriate but I still stand with this bug being unacceptable. Breaking the phone functionality of a phone should not happen.

Nothing went wrong for other users including those on the same carrier. It's entirely possible your carrier provisioned new settings after the update but it was screwed up.

Reset cellular settings again, then reboot.

GrapheneOS Resetting did nothing at first until it broke things even further. Now I am stuck with no signal. When selecting the correct network manually it claims the network was unavailable.

Edit: After setting up the APN manually again, it does connect to the network again.

No issues at all here with DTAG eSIM on P9P.

other8026 I tried resetting my mobile setting as suggested and it seems to have fixed it for now, I've not made many calls but the ones I have have worked much better. I also checked my sim in a Samsung and it worked fine so not a network issue

I would just like to join the queue of those who have these or similar problems with the mobile connection. In line with the statement above that the developers can't do anything as long as they don't have any reports.

So, at the moment I'm only getting an EDGE connection on my Pixel 8a. What I have tried so far:

Resetting the mobile network connections was unsuccessful
I checked the APN settings and they are correct
Inserting the SIM card into an iPhone, where everything worked, so the SIM card should be fine
However, I only inserted the SIM card yesterday for the first time, although I have been setting up the phone with WiFi connection for four weeks already (looking for alternative apps etc.)

If I can provide any further details that can help narrow down the cause, I will be happy to do so.
