Lockscreen crashes on character input

I think last night grapheneos installed an update. After the reboot I'm now unable to get into my phone.
The keyboard (FUTO I think, maybe even default, I didn't disable that) shows up and can be interacted with, but as soon as I type a character the phone freezes, goes dark and shows me the lockscreen again after some time.
In safe mode there is no keyboard at all.

There are also random crashes when opening the status bar from time to time.

Anyone know how to fix this? I'd really like not having to factory reset, there's lots of stuff I haven't backed up yet that I'd prefer not to loose.

Etherion In safe mode there is no keyboard at all.

That is unusual but perhaps consistent with the built-in keyboard having been disabled (e.g., via adb).

Sorry for the late response, ended up factory resetting the phone. None of the stuff I tried worked, safe mode led to no keyboard at all. USB data connections were set to disabled without phone unlock and it also was BFU and I didn't have that exception on.

It seems the issue was unrelated to the update but rather that the phone died because it ran out of battery.
