so, I finally understood using aurora is not really making my life more anonymous of private just because i am not using a google account. and the integrity api is rendering some mandatory apps useless with messages: install from play store,

so i bit the bullet and installed sandboxed google play and created a throwaway google account on a secondary profile.

however play store cannot see the apps installed and when manually search for an installed app it detects the app is installed and tells me i can either update from play or the original source.
but clicking update from play. it just runs in circles and doesn't update.

there are apps i just want to update from play but not loose the data why having to uninstall first to then reinstall.

i am running pixel 6, if that matters.

any workaround?

m4ri0g I could work around that issue, back when there wasn't the option to "update from play", by just logging into play.google.com in a webbrowser. That should be possible in Vanadium, maybe it'll be necessary to enable "Desktop mode" for the website, I don't remember.
Then just search for the app there and tap "install on device X" or similar.

Play Store on your device then should ask you for install confirmation, just accept and it'll update the app from that point on.

will it install if its already installed and merely needs an update?

i will test your workaround and report back.

      TIA

m4ri0g Yes, that's the way it worked for me and why I needed that workaround.
It reinstalled the newest version, or the same if it is already up to date, over the already existing application, replacing the "Installer" and setting the update date to the current day.
App data was kept that way.

sadly this didn't work for me. i tried to update but no update was triggered after going through a browser.

          thanks anyway.

m4ri0g I just uninstalled and reinstalled via Play Store. Still have to use some apps from Aurora because I need to pretend to have another device for these apps to work.
