Hi, I've never installed GrapheneOS before, this was my first time. I got to the part where I downloaded the release but got "Error: You need to download a release first!" and read I might need to try flashing from a phone instead of my computer. So I unplugged the phone, it said something like "your phone is corrupt" and is now stuck on a charging logo. I can't get it to power on even to show the corrupt menu. What should I do?
Help! I messed up installation and I think I bricked my Pixel 8a
0xsigsev I can't get the phone to boot or enter bootloader. It's just hot and stuck on the charging logo. The power button, power and volume, do nothing.
Cdc Yes, it was through the web browser, following instructions. I didn't know what to do when I got the error message so I just unplugged. That's when my phone said it was corrupt. If the battery drains completely will it be able to boot up again back into the bootloader? If I'm able to revive it and restart the process, is there anything I should do differently if the download won't flash?
de0u This got my device to boot back into the bootloader thank you!! I'm now running into the issue that I can't flash to the phone. I'm using Chrome, not in incognito mode on a Chromebook. Any ideas? (Thank you so much for all the help everyone has given so far!)
It might be worth watching this video by side of burritos.
I got it installed! Had to borrow a windows laptop to get it to work but I did it! Thank you every so much for your help! I was so worried I'd bricked a brand new $500 phone before I even had the chance to use it. I'm so relieved you were all able to figure this out. And I'm LOVING Graphene! :)
Better provide reliable source of infos like the official documentation..
NetRunner88 that's a fair point, noted. My thinking was visual demonstrations can be more help than reading material in some cases, however, official documentation does trump all, agreed.
Wadder ive also had it really drilled in my head from the game console hacking scene that text articles trump videos because of how easy they are to quickly update and overwrite old info, thus less likely to be outdated compared to a video guide
