anyway.. i want to say that i like grapheneos. but i really would like more if there was a permission manager for apps so that it will ask me every time.. "how much time do you want this app to connect the internet?"

could be very nice and beautiful option..

what do you say?

tnx

lovefromisrael There is really no privacy/security benefit from this, so it's unlikely that it is getting implemented, but you could check if there is an existing request for this on github.

lovefromisrael I've seen developers respond to this kind of request before saying that since mobile devices can sometimes have spotty internet access, most apps queue stuff up for when they do have access to the internet, so this kind of feature wouldn't accomplish much.

personally i don't want apps like moovit or others to send constant information about my device. this is why i think it is a good idea to make it..

lovefromisrael Nothing would stop the apps from collecting all the data they want offline and then sending it the next time you allow it internet.

You either allow an app network access fron the start or you disable it forever. There is no point in turning it on/off after it has been online at least once.

I'd say that some applications may queue some stuff up, but its not reasonable to claim that MOST queue up EVERYTHING (implied).

Things like instant messengers and email clients will certainly queue up messages you're trying to send while there's no connectivity, but these are messages that you put into the queue.

secrec okay, fair. I don't think it's possible for anyone to know for sure just how many apps queue data up, or what data they queue up, but that doesn't change the fact that it's possible and regular apps already do this to some extent. Having timed network access might give users a false sense of security.

secrec You should always assume the worst. If it can be done, you might as well assume it is being done. That is why systemic/blanket privacy features are important.
          For example:
Will most apps bypass Cal*xOS' leaky firewall? Probably not. Does that make it reliable? No.

If someone's privacy/security depends on others not exploiting the holes they leave open - they are doing it wrong.

By the way. Most data only needs to be sent once at the first opportunity. The other usage stats like app launches, etc. are small data. Its 100% reasonable to assume that most apps that have analitycs, queue up lots of it.

trashaccount You don't need to make assumptions if you understand the operation of the particular applications you are using.

secrec While this is not applicable to 99.99% of the userbase - it is true, yes.
