What photo apps do yall use? Google photos seems to be the best, but I want nothing to do with google if avoidable. I tried proton drive and it has some great features, but is also missing a lot.

So far, I'm impressed with Ente Photos, which is open source and seems to be privacy/security focused, but most similar to google photos. Anyone else familiar with Ente?

    Aves for local Gallery.
Immich for a self-hosted photo cloud.

I have switched from Google Photos to ente, too. They have just released v1 with 10 GB free storage. Only caveat: The app will only sync new smartphone photos when running in the foreground.

I have decided to go down the offline route of purchasing a Pixel with 1TB storage (100x more Ente provides) encrypted by passphrase, relying on a secure element. Using Fossify Gallery that does everything I expect. Sharing via (encrypted) archive on Proton Drive.

I use default app for local stored photos and ente for backup.

Another good option is Cryptee , but no auto backup option .

I use Ente and its really good migrated from Google Photos.

Immich for me. Can't fault it. Self-hosted on an Umbrel server. Has absolutely everything you need and really easy to set up.

Ive no need to backup my phone, I don't take photos, if I do I'll delete them soon after, only download spotify music ( I can always download again)
I regularly delete app storage and cache.
