  • 2 issues. GPS/GNSS / youtube / watching movies

Hi all,

  1. It takes hours before I get GPS / GNSS signal to any GPS app. Installed GPS Test app and it is the same. On the other hand , it sometimes takes seconds to get it while I am in my basement... Very odd! Outside or inside, it does not matter, g services installed or not, does not matter, city or middle of the field, no difference...
  2. Screen dims then goes black when watching youtube via brave browser. I tried duckduckgo browser and youtube and screen stays on. Then I reinstalled Brave, worked for few hours, and again, dims then goes black.

Anyone had similar / same issues?

Do you have location services enabled? Enabling those made finding a GPS signal a lot faster for me.
You cant find those settings here: Settings >Location>Location Services> Enable Wi-Fi scanning and Network Location (Graphene OS proxy)

      Hi,
Yes, I have location service enabled. In setting of Network Location I have Graphene os proxy selected. I do not have Wi Fi scanning enabled for security reasons, would this make a difference if I enabled Wi Fi scanning?
      Thank you

For (2) -- that's what web browsers do. Use Newpipe for youtube videos.

secrec I think, maybe I just sorted it. Brave always worked no problem ever, I only had network location in permissions set, now I added sensors, and screen seems to stay up. Thank you for your advice on newpipe, but I can't stand the layout, sorry!

SmoothOstrich65 I toggled Wi Fi scanning on, then started GPS, worked after 10s, then toggled Wi Fi scanning off, and GPS still works , so maybe it was a bug or something?

kult after getting a GNSS lock assistance from network location isn't needed anymore until next time it needs a lock, it will help it get one faster or let location work in general if indoors.

You need to have either Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi scanning turned on.
