trashaccount If i turn on the GrapheneOS network location, is it only communicating with the servers when an app requests location or its active all the time and scanning for APs?
soupslurpr Yes, only when location is being used. It just requests positioning data for nearby access points by sending a list of their identifiers (BSSIDs).
trashaccount soupslurpr Thank you! I have another question if you dont mind helping. Can the GrapheneOS proxy see the APs that im sending? If im using a VPN is it better to cut out the graphene proxy as a third party?
soupslurpr Please see https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/21244-grapheneos-network-based-location-service-improvements for more info :D
soupslurpr trashaccount The GrapheneOS proxy is a trusted party for the content of the request. It's up to you to make the decision of whether you want to directly use Apple's service. The benefit of using the proxy is that your requests will come from the same GrapheneOS server IP address as others using the proxy.
