hi.
I'm having a weird issue I was hoping someone could help me with.
I'm using a third party proprietary android email client app. I have been for many many years. it's the only one that has the features that I must have.
I'm running an up to date release version of graphene os on a number of pixels ranging from 6a to 9pro. all similarly configured. 3 of them are identically configured pixels 8.
this email client app, installed from the aurora store, is identically configured on all devices. I export/import its config.
out of all the phones, the problem only happens on one pixel 8. the problem is that when I go to the os/settings/apps/[APP]/notifications, I don't get the message notifications option. I get all the other ones, like "mail sync", error, "when silent" and so on, but not the ones for the configured email accounts, where it would allow me to customize the sound/vibration for each account.
one other thing happens that may, or may not, be relevant... inside the app's configuration, there are buttons to manage notifications that open the os/settings/apps/[APP]/notifications/[CATEGORY] window. selecting error or priority notifications works, they open the os/settings window. selecting "message notifications", crashes the app.
I have tried giving the app all the permissions it could possibly want, the compatibility mode, and loosening all configurable hardenings. no effect. on all other handsets, where the app is working as expected, it's given limited permissions and most of the os hardening options are enabled. I have tried reinstalling, re-importing the configuration, and I don't even know what else. I'm at a loss. I don't see any difference in configuration between the devices.
the error from the crash is:
java.lang.SecurityException: UID 1010086 does not have permission to content://media/external/audio/media/1082?title=email&canonical=1 [user 10]

Caused by: android.os.RemoteException: Remote stack trace:
