Any has connected phone to hdmi using the usb c plug?

Im holed up on in a hotel for a week and want to watch twitch, what to do. I might go and get one in a couple hours, wondering if somone know yes or no before i go.

I believe that Pixel 8 was the first model to support DisplayPort output on the USB-C. If I'm not mistaken, it would require an ACTIVE adapter (active means that it has some processing components) to convert from that to HDMI. Whereas HDMI and DVI-D are the same protocol and can be converted using a passive adapter (just wiring pin to pin on the different plugs), similarly DVI-A and VGA, DisplayPort is a totally separate protocol.

Thanks for the reply. I just left the retail shop. They had 3 to choose from.

USB C to hdmi 2.0 6 feet length
USB C to 2.1 hdmi 8K 6 feet length
USB C to 4K hdmi (says displayport alt mode compatible on the box & HDMI ATC Certificate)

I bought #3 Ill reply again after I test it out.

Looks like I did good, nice picture, sound works and is a mirror display of my phone.
to recap: usb c to hdmi does work.

Bismark Thanks, can you share the brand you picked? Was it some 'noname' or a 'more known' brand like some Unitek or similar?

Bismark There's an experimental desktop mode but it requires developer options to enable desktop mode + freeform window mode on secondary display. It doesn't have a lot of features yet. It will be available outside developer options by Android when it's actually ready for regular users to use it, maybe with Android 16 or one of the Android 16 quarterly releases.

Bismark There are USB-C hubs with passthrough for DisplayPort alternate mode, and if that is done via USB-C then you could use the cable you already bought. Some hubs may include other video outputs, etc.

Looks like if I want to use it all day I'll need to wireless charge, I suspected as much so thats fine. Not sure if I needed to do this but I went into developer options and enabled "desktop node"
So far I have not played around too much but it looks like it just mirrors my display so it seems like the display on my phone needs to stay on. Lastly I use profiles, and I put twitch with profile that has google play. Just wanted to say that it works on both profiles without hunting around for settings. I'm happy this works without to much hassle. The settings to turn it on and off are in Settings-->connected devices
