  • Can't Install Facebook on GrapheneOS via Play Store

Hi everyone,
I'm encountering a frustrating issue with my GrapheneOS setup and I'm hoping someone might have some insights or solutions.
I've created 4 user profiles on my GrapheneOS device. I'm able to successfully install the Facebook application via the Google Play Store on two of these profiles. However, when I try to install Facebook on the other two profiles, I consistently receive an error message: "Can't install Facebook."
Here's a breakdown of what I've tried so far:

  • Verified Internet Connection: I've confirmed that all four profiles have a stable internet connection. I can browse the web and use other online applications without any issues on all profiles.
  • Checked Storage Space: I've ensured that there is sufficient free storage space available on all profiles. Storage doesn't seem to be the bottleneck.
  • Cleared Google Play Store Cache and Data: I've gone into the app settings for the Google Play Store on the affected profiles, cleared both the cache and the data, and then tried the installation again. This didn't resolve the issue.
  • Rebooted the Device: I've performed multiple restarts of my GrapheneOS device, but the problem persists.
  • Confirmed Other Apps Install: I can successfully install other applications from the Google Play Store on the problematic profiles. This issue seems to be specifically related to the Facebook app.
  • Uninstalled and Reinstalled Play Store: I even went as far as trying to uninstall and then reinstall the Google Play Store on the affected profiles, but the "Can't install Facebook" error continues.
The fact that I can install Facebook on two profiles but not the other two suggests that the issue might be specific to the configuration of those particular profiles. However, I haven't been able to identify any obvious differences in settings that would cause this.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with installing specific apps on multiple profiles within GrapheneOS? Are there any specific logs I can check or any other troubleshooting steps I should consider?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

Cypher8 do you use 4 separate google id's to log in to those app stores? perhaps the google servers have flagged your activity as suspicious

Cypher8 with all my respect and except if you need facebook for business, just delete your account.

Cypher8 The only thing I can think of is that Google Play hasn't made the newest version available in the one profile for the one account? This would probably only apply if you are using different Google accounts.

If you have Facebook installed in the owner profile, you can "push" it to other profiles in the profile settings.

      grayway2 just delete your account.

I'd imagine many people agree with you, but keep in mind that people may have their own reasons for installing and using apps/services like Facebook. For all we know, they need multiple profiles and accounts for business reasons, or some other "valid" reason that you may not have thought of. It's not our place to decide for others whether they should or shouldn't use certain apps or services.

other8026 it's just a suggestion. People are free to install whatever they want.
