Private Space: don't ask for fingerprint or PIN all the time

Currently, my Private Space asks for a fingerprint unlock every single time after the screen locks. This is really annoying. I have set it so that the Private Space itself remains visible (in the app drawer) until restart or until I manually lock it. So why do I need to enter my fingerprint (or PIN) every single time I want to open an app running in the Private Space just because the screen was off? Is there any way to avoid this behaviour?

Also, and I'm not sure if it's related: I had to set up a "separate" fingerprint for the Private Space (same finger though) because if I use the one from the main profile then apps like banking apps won't show me the option of using biometrics to log in and confirm transactions. Very strange.

The private space stays open (as in: I can see the apps in the app drawer) but I always need to add the fingerprint before opening an app.

So if I start from a locked screen, I first need to use my fingerprint to unlock the phone and then again when I want to start an app from the private space. If the screen gets locked with a private space app open, I need to enter the fingerprint twice (once for the screen, then immediately for the active app). If I don't lock the screen then it's fine, I am not required to enter my fingerprint when I start e.g. a second private space app.

I just switched to a different pin for private space and it did exactly what you explained.

But when I go back to using the same unlocking method as unlocking the phone the apps stay unlocked.

This is the default behaviour. One possible solution may be to use the same unlock method - "Use device screen lock" in the Private space lock settings.

Please note, that locking the Private space also means stopping the apps in it from running. So, by choosing the option to "Lock private space automatically" when "only after device restart" you ensure that the opened apps in the Private space will continue to run when the Owner profile (device) is locked.

Yes, you need to set the Private Space to use the device unlock credentials if you want to avoid having to unlock it every time you lock the screen. Naturally you will also need to disable the setting that locks the Private Space upon locking the screen.

The only annoying thing is that the banking apps don't seem to "see" the biometrics now!

So unless this is a bug, it seems you have to decide between EITHER having to enter a fingerprint every time you want to start an app (after the screen locks) OR you can't have biometrics in the private space for using inside apps.
This plus the inability to put apps on the home screen makes me wonder why I shouldn't just use a work profile instead of private space? It "just works".

I haven't tested any banking apps, but for me Proton Pass' fingerprint unlock feature works fine with Private Space set to use the device unlock credentials.

Perhaps go into the banking apps' settings and try to reregister the fingerprint?

It gives me generic error messages like "service unavailable" when I try to set up biometrics. Tried in 3 apps.
