Hello! I am trying to use the Anker app (com.anker.charging) from the google play store.
When I try to start the app, the app logo flashes a bit and then the app closes.

I have tried the 'Possible workaround solutions' from the stickied post about 'App compatibility with GrapheneOS'.

  1. Native code debugging - no change
  2. Exploit protection compatibility mode - no change
  3. Secure app spawning - could not find this option (using the app inside a profile for google apps)
  4. Alternative frontend clients - don't know what to do here
  5. Search the existing issues - could not find anything. only 1 guy in the playstore also reported problems with his grapheneos smartphone not starting the app)
  6. Capture a bug report - I did not do this. I don't want to send a complete systemlog to "the internets".

Could someone of you check if the problem is an easy fix, or if I must go through with the bugreporting. I am an amateur, please be gentle.

Thanks for reading!

From preliminary testing I'm observing that the app crashes upon launch when launched in a secondary profile, but not in the Owner profile. Both with Sandboxed Google Play.

Thanks for testing. You had a great idea with the owner profile.
I don't have an other Android phone with user profiles to check if it crashes on regular android too.
I did check with a Samsung and their 'Secure Folder' function. There the app would also not start.
This does not seem like normal behavior.

I have confirmed that the same happens in a secondary user profile with the stock OS on a Pixel 6a. The issue is with the app. You'll have to use it owner.

matchboxbananasynergy changed the title to Anker app doesn't work in secondary user profiles (not GrapheneOS-specific) .

I agree. And if it doesn't work right on a widely-used Android OS such as Samsung's, reporting the issue to the app developer might eventually result in a fix.
