Hi all,
I am new to the forum. I've browsed discussions on backup and restore topics
I've read some controversies around the seedvault backup project used by GOS.
Although GrapheneOS is presented with security and privacy first philosophies, my use case is more for a backup and restore process:
- a seamless scheduled daily backup to a Fedora Linux PC through USB or wireless
- and COMPLETE restore, to the same Pixel model or to a newer Pixel model
The use-case is for broken device, theft, hardware/software malfunction...
If to switch to GrapheneOS is it possible to backup/restore EVERYTHING ?
- call logs, contacts (all accounts), SMS/MMS
- Webdav Calendars
- Batch backup/restore of ALL Apps data: APK, settings, user data,...
- Including messaging Apps: WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, and so on
So as to get another phone, connect it to the Fedora PC containing the backup and restore EVERYTHING in a reasonable amount of time (handful of hours or less ?)
Thank you for your help and insight, it may certainly help me to decide if it's worth investing in a Pixel phone for that purpose.
