According to my phone the installed version is 20250203.

According to what I read, 20250308 is both current and stable.

I don't get notified of these updates, nor can I find any place to cause them to be checked for or done (app updates seem to be working correctly).

SteveC first try restarting. You may have an update pending.

If you're still on the same version after restarting, I'd suggest making sure the updater app isn't disabled and/or its network permission hasn't been revoked.

You can basically do the opposite of this to make sure the updater app is still enabled https://grapheneos.org/usage#updates-disabling and while you're in the app settings for the updater app, verify it still has the network permission.

If all of that seems okay, maybe you have a VPN or something filtering out requests to GrapheneOS? It could be Private DNS or a VPN, or something like NetGuard or Rethink DNS that may be blocking the connections, depending on your setup.

other8026 First off thanks for changing the tag...I haven't quite figured out sometimes which one to use.

Restarting did indeed update me (thanks for the suggestion)...but I find it interesting that I've never been notified by the phone that I have to do this. Apparently I have to notice that updates have come out (stable ones I mean) here; then reboot the phone.

SteveC You likely turned off notifications for System Updater.

Go into Settings > Apps, turn on showing system apps, find the System Updater app with search and turn notifications back on. There's also a shortcut to that menu from Settings > System > System update. Perhaps you meant to turn off the "Already Updated" notification channel but you turned off all notifications from it instead.

SteveC I've also hit the snooze on mine inadvertently before. Check your Settings > System Updater > Notifications. Make sure all System Updater notifications are set to ON and the others below are enabled also.

SteveC the same thing happened to me on that same build. Restarting solved it. Not sure why I didn't have the persistent notification. Must have swiped it away by mistake since I never changed my settings. What I found strange is that even going to settings and "checking for updates" wouldn't do anything including telling me I had an update pending. I just got nothing and notification were turned on, I checked that. Anyway haven't had an issue before or since thankfully.

Today it wanted me to reboot (again!) for a new update (I had already rebooted it yesterday for 2025030800).

Wasn't sure if it was a glitch or not until I came here just now and saw there was a 2025030900, and I just checked the phone and that's what's now installed.

In other words, suddenly it works properly now.

Just to check into everything I tried to check into GrapheneOS's suggestion.

Go into Settings > Apps, turn on showing system apps, find the System Updater app with search and turn notifications back on. There's also a shortcut to that menu from Settings > System > System update. Perhaps you meant to turn off the "Already Updated" notification channel but you turned off all notifications from it instead.

I don't, in Settings > Apps, see a way to turn on "Showing system apps" and system update app does not show up in the "all apps" list, so I wasn't sure what to do here.

I'm going to figure the same thing happened to me as with goslife--he reports exactly the same symptoms.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance...other than the occasional difficulty finding out where a setting is, and some quirks I'll post about one by one, I'm liking this system (and it's great telling Google what to go do with itself).

SteveC I don't, in Settings > Apps, see a way to turn on "Showing system apps" [...]

First do "Show all __ apps", then look at the upper right of the screen for a vertical ellipsis (⋮).
