My fingerprint sensor came back up eventually, but after a reboot, it won't come back online. I've restarted probably 30 times since yesterday and nothing. Did anyone have this bug come back after a reboot, or just me?
Workaround for Android 15 QPR2 fingerprint firmware glitch on Pixel 9
Bgregs This impacts both the stock Pixel OS and GrapheneOS. It's not specific in any way to GrapheneOS. It's not normal for it to occur on a Pixel 9 Pro XL though.
I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL and I can confirm that I have this issue. Fingerprint reader is not recognized by the OS on startup, requiring power cycling the device a couple times before functionality returns.
With the Latest update the fingerprint was gonr again. Rebooting brought it back.
Build no 2025040400
gos_user What is a soft reest? I press [power] + [vol down] on boot and the options are as follows:
- Power off
- Start
- Restart Bootloader
- Recovery Mode
- Rescue Mode
- BarCode
I have the same problem on a P9
Also just happened to me after installing the latest update for Pixel 9 and restarted. I noticed this because also I couldn't connect to my bluetooth headphones. Not sure if this is somehow related
Having issues with my Pixel 9 Pro. I setup an alphanumric password and I am 100% sure that its correct. Looks like its not just a fingerprint issue only. I had to hard factory wipe the device. I dont think I am the only one with this issue as I have a friend who just setup his new pixel 8 and he is also certain he did not change his password.
He has been using the same password for a week and now he cant login. Something weird is happening
ShinRamen247 That's not related to this thread. Many people change their password and then forget it. It could also be caused by a bug in a non-default keyboard app.
GrapheneOS If a third-party keyboard is responsible for a user not being able to login, is there a fallback method to use the default keyboard?
I jusy got this bug on build 2025040700. Already tried rebooting and shutting down - powering back a few times. The fingerprint scanner worked once when my screen timed out and stopped working again after that. Fingerprint unlock is also missing from system settings and app settings.
DSJ009 My understanding is that if, as the system boots, it can't handshake with the fingerprint sensor then it disables the code that would manage the sensor, thus the settings pieces won't be visible. So far it seems that rebooting a sufficient number of times will enable the fingerprint sensor handshake to work.
I know this issue isn't related to GrapheneOS in any way, but I wanted to chime in that ever since installing build 2025040700, my fingerprint reader hasn't shown up once.
With the previous updates (before 2025040700), I had to reboot once or occasionally power off — power back on the device to get my fingerprint reader working again.
But today I have rebooted and powered off — powered back on the device so many times now, and still nothing.
Suppose there was a firmware update/fix for the fingerprint reader and the actual fingerprint reader isn't being recognized because of the above issue, does the firmware for the fingerprint reader still get applied?
I've been effected by this since the beginning of March and had been able to get it back by rebooting, but that no longer seems to work. On my Pixel 9 update 2025040700 has nixed my fingerprint reader and rebooting normally or via recovery mode has not brought it back. As this is caused by firmware issues I don't suppose anyone has had any luck fixing the issue by a reinstall of GrapheneOS?
cadillyst When the issue first surfaced I reinstalled GOS and it made no difference. I know it isn't particularly helpful as advice, but sometimes the fingerprint reader comes back instantly, sometimes after me rebooting once, and the most I have had to reboot is upwards of 20 times. I would suggest simply to keep powering off and on and it will come back on eventually.
memoria I had the same issue and just kept power cycling as Lilac6044 recommended and finally got it to start working again. Had to cycle upwards of 20 times.
Has anyone tried factory resetting the phone to bring back fingerprint unlock after update 2025040700 and did it work ?
