Hi

A while back I had to make a Google login because aurora store was not working for me.

I think this app updated today and now it doesn't work at all it just directs me to a google play sign in page when I click the app icon on mobile.

Any ideas on what to do so I can login in and it just stays open on my eBay profile?

The eBay app had never had this problem until today on GOS

Thanks in advance

It is not recommended to use Aurora Store. It has no privacy benefits over the official Play Store on GOS and is very insecure and dangerous.

I read about other users having issues with eBay recently, seems like they may have started enforcing Play Integrity.

I have been using aurora store to download all my apps.

I thought using the official play store was bad for privacy on GOS or has this advice now changed?

If I log into eBay on vanadium I click my profile picture on the web version and then it shortcuts to the app version. I don't think this is ideal but it seems like a work around at the moment.

I don't really want to re download all my apps from Google play store if I can help it.

It says that eBay is running the Google play API on my GOS info screen.

I did make a Google burner account for aurora store a while back that I'm still logged in on

dhffkjadhsfkaj If I remember correctly, I installed a bunch of apps via Aurora Store, but installed Play Store and Services after successfully creating a Google account without the need to give a phone number.

All the apps work and Play Store doesn't say the apps weren't installed via another store.

I don't use the tracker app from eBay though. Everything in the browser.

Yesterday the eBay app was saying that it didn't originate from the official store ( Google play store pop up login screen) but the above work around I used seems to be working for now. They must have changed something internally with the code.

GOS never advised to use Aurora Store and is officially advising against using it. The recommendation is to use sandboxed Google Play with the official Google Play Store, it is the most secure and private. In GOS, Play Services are fully confined to the regular app sandbox with no special privileges.

Like I wrote above, you shouldn't use Aurora Store as it is insecure and dangerous.

Sandboxed Google Play with the official Play Store is not less private. Aurora Store provides no privacy benefit.

Just so you're aware, ebay works fine as a progressive web app. You can also have your ebay account send notifications to your email as a replacement for the app's push notifications.
