I wanted to see if anyone knows of a way on stock android or GrapheneOS to make a VOIP app the default app for phone calls and SMS. My reason for wanting this is to ensure that my public phone number is not a cell number, to reduce the chance it could be used to track me via cell records.
I currently use a Google Voice phone number for this, but I haven't found a way of making Google Voice the default for either phone or sms, at least on stock android. (I will shortly be installing GrapheneOS on a second phone). The annoying part of using Google Voice for calls is that when I click on a phone number on a web page, it doesn't open Google Voice. I instead have to copy or remember the number to enter in Google Voice. FWIW, I have a data and SMS only plan, so making a cell call isn't even possible.
I'd be fine with porting my number to a different service to use an app that supported this.
Thanks for any suggestions.
