Hey,
Yet another post about OEM greyed out..!
I'm starting to think I was a little bit too enthusiast about switching to Graphene OS... and innocent because I thought it would be easy haha
I didn't think that getting the device would be the most difficult part.
So, I just bought a new Pixel 7 on a well known french website (not a carrier) for installing GOS. The device is not carrier locked, for sure because my SIM works fine on it.
However, it is OEM locked, so far. OEM unlock toogle is grayed out in the developper options.
First time I turned it on, I was probably not careful enough, but it updated to Android 15. So I'm stuck withit now (don't know if it's good or bad for the OEM problem).
Since yesterday, I'm reading a lot about this issue and discovered that many people had it before. I tried all the tricks I could find: Factory reset, SIM connect, Google Play Services "checkin", fastboot commands etc.
Eventually, I am now waiting for "OEM unlock" to magically ungrey, as it apparently happened for some people. What are my chance? How long the wait? I read someone said that if unlockable, the option should ungrey within minutes; others said it took a random time to ungrey.
My questions are:
- is there a way be sure that my pixel is not "OEM unlock" forever, like with IMEI check or something? Should I wait or move on? I read here some people had to buy 4 different phones before getting a one that was OK
and 2. if I choose to buy a new one, say aPixel 8, from Google Store (and resell my Pixel 7): how can I be sure that the Pixel I will receive from Google Store will be OEM unlockable? Will it be right away? Obviously, I don't have the money to play the Pixel lottery more than one last time :)
Thank you for your feedbacks :)
