How do you use the internet with your recent Pixel when you're out with VPN ?

I would like to use my 8a pixel with internet with VPN when I am outside but I do not want to insert a SIM card on my 8a pixel. I would like to have your advice

What about a little MiFi device? It still needs a SIM card, but it could be a safer option.

Yeah. I used to have a secondhand one for cheap, running for not that long, but I could charge it with a power bank on the go.

Balokzx There's no other option. You either carry a travel router with a sim that have it's own battery + powerbank or you connect to random open wifi networks.
E: or you carry some random old phone with sim that would work as your travel router.

I use my pixel 8 with VPN on public/nearby WiFi and on my phone data plan, I thought all VPN plans has this facility.

So, it isn't possible. You need to set up separate VPN on device that is tethered.

I just had an idea, if I use a Pixel 6a plugged into a USB 3.0 port of a travel wifi router with a USB tethering configuration, I connect VPN on my Pixel 6a, I connect a Wi-Fi connection from a travel router, I would be able to use a wi-fi connection with VPN on my Pixel 8a? If not, I'd have to install every VPN app on both my Pixels, right? I use a pixel 6a with a sim card to share the 4G LTE or USB tethering internet connection on the USB-C port of my pixel 8a or am I wrong?

Why not try Bitdefender VPN just install , choice protocols , I use wireguard, and option to protection to connect to any insecure WiFi .

Tethering ignores VPN client installed on phone. I am not sure why it is designed so. So much for "all traffic" promise by Android developers.

Unless I've missed something... why bother with a Pixel 8a its a mobile phone, full of up to the minute telecommunication hardware, but you don't want to use it.
Use a pixel tablet instead, VPN, messaging apps etc installed and free WiFi where ever you find it.
sure its bigger but you would only use the tablet in the same premises providing free wifi that you would have used your sim free 8a in, presumably because you would have airplane mode switched.
Plus the tablet new is probably chaper or at least the same cost as a refurb 8a.

For the moment, I am using Pixel 8A under Grapheneos in daily desktop mode to replace my PC. I find that a Google Pixel Tablet is no longer interesting now because it has only 3 years of security update and the update of the year's OS, it cannot use in desktop mode because It is only reserved in the 8th/9th generation. It is very expensive for me, it costs 729 bucks, no thanks. I think that my only option is to use a pixel 7a costs 250 or less bucks, I will use it with a SIM card like a travel router, branch on a USB-C port of my 8a pixel with Tethering USB (of course, each VPN app on my pixels because Tethering USB does not support VPN traffic apparently)
