On my Pixel 6A with GrapheneOS build 2025021100 - anytime I either turn on Airplane Mode or disconnect from mobile data and turn on Wifi - no access points can be found. It's as if wifi is not working at all. It's the same if I click the reset Internet button in Settings | Network and Internet | Internet.

The only thing that allows me to connect to any wifi again is resetting the phone - then wifi works normally again until I use mobile internet & the same thing happens. This started happening about 2 months ago - before that everything was fine for over a year.

Any ideas? It's very annoying having to restart the phone everytime I reach home, the office or anywhere else I prefer to use wifi.

admyqb What happens if you briefly toggle the Wi-Fi slider off and on (without airplane mode)?

    Is a VPN in use?

Does this happen for all Wi-Fi networks, even public networks such as at a library?

Sorry for taking so long replying. Toggling the Wifi doesn't help & yes a VPN is in use but I tried it on a brand new test profile without a vpn & got the same problem & yes -- this happens for all wifi networks - once mobile data has connected once - then no Wifi networks are ever visible until a restart.

I have to say that sounds like it might be a hardware problem.

Can you try, in airplane mode with Wi-Fi working, toggling Wi-Fi off and back on?

I can confirm that with Aeroplane mode On - toggling WiFi on & off works as normal. TBH - it doesn't seem like a hardware problem as both wifi & mobile data work fine on their own, it's only switching from mobile data back to wifi. Wifi to mobile data is also good.

That is a testable hypothesis, as follows.

            1. Back up as much of your data as possible. This might include capturing (onto another system) QR codes for Wi-Fi networks you often use.
            2. Turn airplane mode on, turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off, then in "Reset options" reset Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, then reset Internet.
            3. If that doesn't fix the problem, factory-reset the device. It should be OK to retain eSIMs. Note that this will delete all of your data!
            4. If that doesn't fix the problem, flash the device back to Google's stock OS.
            5. If that doesn't do it, I'm afraid the hardware-problem hypothesis will have strong support.
