That's an Android Open Source Project release build number. I believe that Google is a major developer of it.
As has been stated, you are seeing the build number in the notification area because you enabled developer options. Are you a developer? It should only be used for development and debugging, as the name implies. You accept instabilities and potential OS breakage by enabling it.
