Return Key Messaging App

After using an Emoji once in the Messaging app, the Return key has been replaced by the Emoji icon in the keyboard.

I have managed to figure out that hitting the Shift key will temporarily display the Return key (somewhat inconstantly however), but is there any way to permanently display the Return key? Perhaps even disabling Emoji's altogether. In keyboard settings I have tried toggling off the "Emoji for physical keyboard" setting to no avail. Nor can I find a way to reset default settings for the Messaging or keyboard app.

Does anyone know if the Emoji icon replacing the Return key is a feature or a bug? Should I report this on the GrapheneOS Github?

Any information or help with this would be greatly appreciated. As I mentioned, even using the Shift key to briefly display the Return key has been inconsistent — sometimes requiring multiple presses — so that is not a convenient or reliable fix.

So is there a way to permanently bring back the Return key? It was the default before I ever used an Emoji.

Eurus100 In my experience the key switches between Return and emoji roughly each time the shift key is pressed. So it's a little annoying but usable. Some people use third-party keyboards, which have issues of their own.
