Difference in storage in GrapeneOS vs stock Android

Many Android devices are very bloated when you buy them. Maybe Googles Pixels ain't the worst but would be intresting much storage a Pixel 9 Android takes in default vs a Pixel 9 with GrapeneOS.

Anyone have a clue?

VEECCdYKYi Cannot you just download the factory image for stock Android and the factory image for GrapheneOS, unpack the zip files and compare the sizes of the actual .img files? I think that would answer your question.

I had a Nokia phone where I needed to increase the system partition for a newer Android (LineageOS) version to fit.

But anways I wonder about this too. PixelOS is pretty bloated.

In the end, the system partition is not usable for other storage.

Sure. This seams that the GrapheneOS is larger. Since the stock have a whole a lot more apps, it doesn't make sence. Does the stock Android download more after install?

For latest version of factory images for Pixel Tablet, I get:

Stock Google Android: 3.0 GB [1]
GrapheneOS: 1.3 GB [3]

For latest version of OTA signed update images for Pixel Tablet, I get:

Stock Google Android: 2.4 GB [2]
GrapheneOS: 1.0 GB [3]

To me, it seems GrapheneOS is much smaller indeed.

I compared the zip-files themselves, since both Google and GrapheneOS zip it all together. I didn't actually download the files.
