Do use the PS and have here except the banking apps and such also many photos because Google Camera&Photos (for quick editing) combo is hard to beat so far.
But I would like to continue with Syncthing, having this set up on main/owner profile.
So far I'm not able to grasp how Storage Scopes working.
Firstly it's quite hard to set up it (or well even finding the options):
It's now hidden within Setting > Security & privacy > Privacy controls > Permission manager > some appropriate category - so far "Files", "Photos and videos" are the categories I care about.
Now its different for each of them.
The 'Files': must go in and bottom of the screen below (!) is 'See more apps that access all files'.
When click to get in this option, the menu 'All file access' appears with Syncthing finally in the list.
(The list is Personal / Private - Private is empty in my phone.)
Now under Syncthing submenu is Storage Scopes finally.
Personal allowing me to set up folders within personal but the Add folder picker showing me also Personal files - I can visit them, seeing the right photos in the DCIM folder. But upon choosing the folder, small popup raise caring info 'Unknown scope'.
For the 'Photos and videos' the listing have many apps but Syncthing not among them.
Also the menu is quite different, there is straightforward Storage Scope menu directly guiding me for each app.
Now I'm quite confused. And maybe that is my main problem - wanting setup impossible.
So It's even possible for Syncthing to access a folder from PS (while PS is unlocked, active)?
If yes, what I'm doing wrong?
I can pick a picture in PS, for example, from Signal running in main (but that is probably because it's Photos videos?) but can't reliably add a folder into Syncthing.
If I do that, it sync yet again the very same already synced folder from main profile, so I have the photos 2x but not from PS.
Have no error while adding the folder into Syncthing job. But it adds, even when choosing the PS DCIM, the owner DCIM.
There is no difference if the access is 'All' instead of the few chosen folder instead with the 'Storage scope'.
How do you guys syncing the files between devices with no Google account?
Did that previously with Syncthing but for different profile, since then I moved all apps under PS. So for quite a long time I didn't use anything other than this.
I'm not much in favor of having Syncthing 2x on the phone, mainly there is quite a lot running all the time and also it will occupy the notification bar with another permanent notification.
