Forgive me if I've put this in the wrong spot.

I'll begin by saying I know almost nothing! That being said, I am slowly starting to work my way out of the Google ecosystem. I was looking at getting a Pixel 8 to convert, but since teh 10 is supposedly going to be released in August, I think I'll just wait on that'.

That being said, I've toyed with the idea of having a second phone for a long time (for any number of calls I wouldn't want going to my daily driver, plus for those moments that I might want to make calls I wouldn't want to use my regular number for (nothing criminal). that was set up with just a modest pay-as-you-go plan, and I thought a used 6 or 7 would probably be good because if I screw it up (I have VERY LITTLE technical skill, so swapping out the OS of a piece of electronic equipment isn't something I do every day), at least I haven't killed a phone I paid a chunk of cash for.

I waffle a bit though because some of my friends tell me the 6 has less than 2 years of life left in it, but others are telling me Graphene will support it for a couple of years after that. I truly do not know what the real answer is to that question is, but I would assume it's to be found here.

Oh, one more thing...of all the chat options, which is most appropriate for one such as myself (and is there a Signal group)?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I would not plan on GrapheneOS extended support for 6-series devices. Unlike the earlier devices, the regular support life from Google for the 6 series was reasonable.

Please note that I do not speak for the GrapheneOS project.

so what's the setup you're aiming at? is gos a primary device and a whatever os device is secondary, or vice versa? Or both devices are gos?

for this there is no need in a second physical device. an instance of jmp.chat will suffice for this.

FShaw because if I screw it up

what you mean by this? screwing up the device during gos installation? - i don't think it is possible(installed gos a dozen times without an issue) .
