Hi everyone,
I'm currently using GrapheneOS, GrapheneOS offers very good security and great features so other comparisons became so behind and unlogical to use and I have set up Sandboxed Google Play Services in a work profile under shelter application with a minimal permissions(Granted minimal permissions to Play Services (only network and location)
While I understand this provides some protection, I still have concerns about:
- Google Play Services' aggressive data collection attempts
- Exposure of installed apps
- Overall privacy implications
I am gradually leaving all google products but still on the android platform notifications and some crucial apps depends on google play services and I really don't want to use iphone because GrapheneOS much more secure and flexible.
I'd appreciate hearing from other GrapheneOS users about:
- Is this a reasonable setup for using google play services in terms of privacy?
- How come better installing google play services to main profile and work profile?
- What additional steps do you take to further restrict Google Play Services?
- Are there alternative approaches you've found successful?
- What specific permissions do you allow/deny for optimal privacy?
For context, I need to maintain some Google Play functionality for certain apps, but want to minimize exposure as much as possible until I manage to work google play services depended apps without it.
Thanks in advance for any insights or recommendations!
