AlanZ I am always on the lookout for a good ePub reader and having gone through most of them: FBReader (now turned into spyware), ReadEra (cannot be purchased outside of Google Play, has trackers), Lithium (seems abandoned), Librera (ugly and clunky) I became increasingly frustrated in my search. This new fresh Material 3 app might just be the answer, who knows: https://github.com/Acclorite/book-story/blob/master/fastlane/metadata/android/en-US/images/phoneScreenshots/2.png Anyway, thought it might be useful to somebody.
fid02 AlanZ Thanks for sharing! Been looking for an ereader app for previewing ebook files that wasn't clunky. This one has a nice design, easy to use and very customizable. Although I dislike that it requires access to my entire home folder. If not for Storage Scopes, I wouldn't want to use the app at all.
boarim AlanZ Thank you for the suggestion. It looks great. I want to install it through Obtainium, but the APK signature hash is not in AppVerifier database. Do you know where I can find the hash fingeprint?
AlanZ fid02 You are welcome! Ironically, I don’t have an access to an Android phone right now, so I couldn’t actually test the app. Yeah, it is not good that it requests access to the Home folder. I will ask the developer about it.
AlanZ fid02 Update: The next version of the app will not require full storage access, you can grant individual folder access.
calpurtmun This is a great find! After coming from iOS Books I was very disappointed with android's ebook readers. Apps like these make it easier to switch to GrapheneOS.
LeslieFH I use KOReader, both on my Kobo e-reader and on Android, it has position syncing and generally good customization. (It is not available on Google Play Store, only F-Droid or installing apk directly)
r134a I currently use Librera and agree it is kinda clunky but also feature-rich. I stay with Librera mainly because of the ability to use TTS, is anybody aware on alternatives which provide that functionality aswell?
calpurtmun r134a Any app will support TTS if you are okay with installing "Reading mode" from Aurora or Google Play store. It's a Google app, but it works with internet permission disabled. It adds a quick tile that will read aloud any screen content in most any app including e-book readers.
DirtyDan Just found this new open-source ereader called Readest. It appears to be a brand new app. Very pretty and extremely feature rich. Also crossplatform. Anyone have any thoughts in terms of security/privacy? Seems a little too good to be true. https://github.com/readest/readest
