I have just installed to GrapheneOS (2025012700) on a Pixel 8.
I have several paid apps, that I would like to continue to use.
I have read most of the discussions about private spaces and I (think) understand what it means.
One thing that isn't clear to me: I use Locus Map Pro for hiking and biking. The app is configured to keep the GPS services active, even if the my screen is turned off or the device is locked. It also allows to display itself "on top of everything" even if the device is locked, which is very convenient (as I just need to turn on the display to see my location, but I don't need to unlock the device)
Would this still work if I installed it in a private space? (I assume I will have to configure the private space to keep being unlocked until the next reboot).
I understand that if I install Google Play Store/Services, this always runs in a sandbox - regardless if installed in the main profile or a private space.
If my primary goal is to reduce data transferred to Google, does this mean there is no (big) difference between installing my Play Store apps in the main profile or install it in a private space? The private space gives more security in terms of access to my phone's content for each app. Is that understanding correct? And it's a second protection if someone is able to unlock my phone's main profile.
The biggest difference between sandboxed Google Play in the main profile and the private space is, that if the private space is locked, all apps in there are completely stopped and can not communicate ("phone home") at all, right?
If I install Google Play in the main profile and later decide to move everything to a private space, I can move the apps, but not the data. What happens to the payment/license information in that case? Are these queried through the Google Account associated with the play store? So if I use my current Google account in the (sandboxed) Play Store in the main profile, and later move everything to a private space using the same Google account, they would still be "paid"?
